Year Abroad in Alps SEK

I had the opportunity to experience a completely different academic setting during my semester abroad in the French Alps. I went to a boarding school that blended project-based learning with rigorous classroom instruction using the IB education program. This allowed me to get a diferent prespective of learning, rather what I was used to in Spain. Because the classes were so small and very interactive, I was able to engage more and develop stronger bonds with my teachers. Through daily immersion in and outside of school, I was able to improve my French language proficiency while completing the A2 DELF official French exam.

Additionally, the program gave a strong importante to interdisciplinary learning. For instance, during work in the mountains, we directly studied alpine ecosystems, learning by real world practice in environmental science. One of the program's most beneficial features in my opinion was the mixture between academics and hands-on learning, which forced me to adjust to a new system while maintaining my high academic standards.

Learning to strike a balance between independence and academics was another crucial aspect of the experience. Living in a boarding school required me to manage my own timetable, coordinate my study sessions, and work with classmates from various backgrounds. I became more organized, flexible, and receptive as a result of that environment. Beyond the knowledge I learned in class, I came back with improved study techniques and the self-assurance to take on new challenges head-on with initiative and discipline.
